Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 ounce) skin-on salmon filets
2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Juice from 1/2 a lemon
Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine all spices: smoked paprika, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne.
Pat salmon filets dry and brush lightly with melted butter. Coat evenly with the spice mix on both sides.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat; add butter or oil until shimmering.
Place salmon skin-side down in the skillet and sear for about 5 minutes until dark crust forms. Flip carefully and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until cooked through.
Remove from skillet, drizzle with lemon juice, and garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
For a spicier rub, increase the cayenne pepper.
Ensure your skillet is hot before adding the salmon for a good sear.
