Easy recipe for warm, fluffy breakfast rolls that are perfect for busy mornings and can be made ahead.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm whole milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • Optional fillings: scrambled eggs, cheese, sausage, jam

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy (5โ€“10 minutes).
  2. Stir in eggs, butter, and salt.
  3. Add flour gradually, kneading until dough is soft and elastic (5โ€“8 minutes).
  4. Let dough rise, covered, in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Punch down and divide into 12 pieces. Fill if desired and shape into rolls.
  6. Place in greased baking dish and let rise again for 30โ€“45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 375ยฐF for 18โ€“22 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Brush with melted butter if desired.

Notes

  • Refrigerate shaped rolls overnight for make-ahead prep.
  • Store baked rolls in an airtight container or freeze individually.
  • Use plant-based milk and butter for dairy-free version.
