Slow-cooked beef brisket with a rich, caramelized sauce, perfect for sandwiches or meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lb beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325ยฐF (160ยฐC).
  2. Season the brisket with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned.
  4. Remove brisket from the pot and set aside.
  5. Add sliced onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  7. Pour in beef broth, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine.
  8. Return the brisket to the pot. Cover and bake for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shreds.
  9. Remove brisket from the pot and shred it using two forks.
  10. Return the shredded beef to the pot with the sauce and toss to coat.
  11. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a bay leaf to the liquid while braising.
  • If the sauce is too thin, you can simmer it uncovered for the last 30 minutes of cooking to reduce it.
  • This pulled beef is excellent in sandwiches, tacos, or served over rice.
