Garlic Cottage Cheese Naan

A simple recipe for soft and flavorful garlic naan made with cottage cheese.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup plain cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, and melted butter.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
  7. Roll each portion into a thin oval shape.
  8. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  9. Cook each naan for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown spots appear.
  10. Brush the cooked naan with melted butter and sprinkle with minced garlic and cilantro.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cumin or carom seeds to the dough.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it’s too dry, add a little more milk.
  • Serve warm with your favorite curry or dip.
