Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Black edible marker or chocolate chips for eyes and mouth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Lightly grease your waffle iron if needed.
  6. Pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron for each waffle.
  7. Cook until golden brown and cooked through, following your waffle iron’s directions.
  8. Carefully remove the waffle from the iron.
  9. Use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the ghost shape from the waffle, or freehand cut if you prefer.
  10. Use a black edible marker or place chocolate chips to create eyes and a mouth on your ghost waffles.
  11. Serve immediately.
