Quick Healthy Chocolate Mug Cake

Healthy Chocolate Mug Cake - Tasty

A simple recipe for a single-serving, low-sugar chocolate cake made in the microwave.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 Tablespoon sweetener (e.g., erythritol or stevia blend)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 Tablespoons milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 Tablespoon oil (e.g., coconut or vegetable)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sweetener, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  2. Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
  3. Stir well until the batter is smooth and no dry pockets remain. Do not overmix.
  4. Microwave on high for 60 to 90 seconds. Cooking time varies by microwave power; start checking at 60 seconds. The cake is done when the top looks set.
  5. Let the cake cool in the mug for one minute before eating.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder to the dry ingredients.
  • If you prefer a fudgier texture, reduce the cooking time by 10 seconds.
  • You can substitute the oil with 1 Tablespoon of unsweetened applesauce for lower fat content.
