  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter or oil, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a lightly oiled griddle over medium heat.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake.
  6. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter placed on the griddle to guide the batter, or carefully pour the batter into a heart shape.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Serve immediately.
