High Protein Beef Pasta

A delicious bowl of High Protein Beef Pasta with spiral noodles, beef sauce, cheese, and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound whole wheat pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese before serving, if desired.
