A fast and simple recipe for sweet and savory Korean ground beef served over rice, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef 90% lean
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups hot cooked white or brown rice
  • sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking the beef into crumbles until it is no longer pink. Drain the grease.
  2. Whisk brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Pour the sauce over the ground beef and let it simmer for one to two minutes.
  4. Serve the mixture over hot rice and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • You can substitute brown rice for white rice if you prefer a whole grain option.
  • Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes based on your preference for heat.
