Monster Muffins for Kids

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Candy eyes
  • Chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir until the batter is evenly colored.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the muffins cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, decorate each muffin with candy eyes and chocolate chips to create monster faces.

Notes

  • You can add sprinkles for extra decoration.
  • Ensure food coloring is child-safe.
