Simple Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

A quick and easy recipe for beef and broccoli stir fry.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes until bright green. Add a splash of water if needed to steam slightly.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth and brown sugar.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet. Pour the broth mixture over the beef and broccoli.
  8. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in sesame oil.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Serve over cooked white or brown rice for a complete meal.
  • You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or skirt steak.
