Easy recipe for chocolate-dipped pretzels, perfect for a quick treat or party favor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
  • 1 bag pretzel rods
  • Optional: sprinkles, chopped nuts, or other toppings

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and vegetable shortening.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is smooth and melted.
  4. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the pretzel.
  5. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  6. Place the dipped pretzel on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. If using, immediately add your desired toppings before the chocolate sets.
  8. Allow the chocolate to harden completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.

Notes

  • Ensure your bowl and utensils are completely dry, as water can cause chocolate to seize.
  • For a glossier finish, you can use a higher quality chocolate or add a bit more shortening.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
