Turkey and Black Bean Tacos - Tasty

Easy and flavorful turkey and black bean tacos.

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 taco shells or tortillas
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa

Instructions

  1. Brown ground turkey in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in black beans, diced tomatoes with green chilies, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Warm taco shells or tortillas according to package directions.
  6. Spoon the turkey and black bean mixture into taco shells or tortillas.
  7. Add your favorite toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier taco, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a diced jalapeño to the mixture.
  • You can substitute ground chicken or beef for the ground turkey.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
