Simple Pan-Seared Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce

Valentine’s Day Dinner for Two - Tasty

A quick and elegant main course perfect for a romantic dinner for two.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Place the salmon skin-side down (if skin is on) and sear for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crisp.
  4. Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until cooked through to your preference. Remove salmon from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and minced garlic to the same skillet. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the white wine or broth and let it simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Cook until the liquid reduces slightly, about 1 minute.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  8. Spoon the lemon butter sauce over the cooked salmon fillets before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with steamed asparagus or roasted potatoes for a complete meal.
  • For extra richness, whisk in 1 teaspoon of cold butter at the end of making the sauce.
